The new Lego House, which was built by BIG at Billund, in Denmark, combines the functionality of a modular space with the iconic nature of a sculptural building. It was conceived like a village for playing and learning \u2013 a urban space and an architecture at the same time, meant for the inhabitants of Billund and for tourists. As far as spaces and indoor activities are concerned, the Danish office wanted to follow the Lego philosophy \u2013 which invents the game by means of a systematic creativity. Therefore, the Lego House is designed as a three-dimensional village with overlapped blocks and communicating spaces. It is possible to visit the building fluently \u2013 from one block to the other \u2013 through a continuous movement. Each part of it is a parallel and independent world accessible and employable independently. Each block has one single light configuration and can be used in a fully flexible way. The building has always an access to the numerous terraces which extend the experience of the central part outwards.<\/p>\n
